Braintree district: Estate agents remain cautious despite house price rise
House prices in Braintree and Witham climbed in 2012, but estate agents aren’t getting carried away.
According to Halifax’s latest figures, house prices in Braintree went from an average selling price of £207,728 in 2011 to £214,174 last year - an increase of 3.1 per cent.
The mortgage lender was unable to provide figures for Witham due to a “low sample size”.
But Russell Davis, branch manager of Allen Estates, in Newland Street, Witham, said the firm’s own statistics indicated its average selling price rose from £169,971 to £177,454.
