Five cars were involved in a rush-hour accident on the A12 this morning.
The accident happened on the southbound carriageway in Witham, just before junction 22, and was reported to police at 7.20am.
All the cars were believed to have been travelling in the middle lane, causing significant debris to spread across the road.
There were no injuries, and the cars were moved to a nearby petrol station to await recovery.
The five vehicles involved were a black Ford Fiesta, a silver Volkswagen Passat, a white BMW 320, a white Volvo V50 and a white Ford Focus.
The road was cleared by 7.55am.
