More than 100 extra lorries a day could use a notoriously busy road if a bigger waste centre is built.
Essex County Council plans to build a waste transfer station at Cordons Farm in Long Green, Cressing, off the Galleys Corner roundabout.
It said 110 lorries would visit the site each day and 71,250 tonnes of rubbish would be baled for transfer to treatment plants.
This includes food waste, dry recyclables and black bag waste collected by Braintree Council from local residents.
A county council contractor will take food waste to treatment plants and black bag rubbish to a new plant being built in Basildon.
