A NEW interim chief executive has been appointed to run the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust.

Andrew Morgan has 30 years of experience in the NHS and is taking over from Monday during a difficult time with the service making £50million of cuts.

Maria Ball, chairman for the trust, said: “Andrew is a superb person to lead the trust whilst the next stage of the recruitment process is carried out."

Mr Morgan moves from his post as chief executive of NHS Norfolk and Waveney.

He said: “I am delighted to be given the opportunity to lead the ambulance service."
