A firearms officer jailed for lying in court has been sacked from the Metropolitan Police.
Michael Turner, 44, of Hawkes Road, Witham, was found guilty of lying to magistrates in an attempt to avoid punishment for a drink-driving offence.
The highly commended officer, who has 20 years experience, was sentenced to 18 months in prison at Chelmsford Crown Court on November 9.
He was sacked at a Metropolitan Police misconduct hearing just weeks after being sentenced.
