Braintree: Burglars steal disabled pair's Christmas and bills money

First published in News

Despicable burglars raided a disabled pair’s home and stole more than £1,000 cash they had saved up for Christmas presents.

Mum and son, Harry and Myrtle Redkin, had gone out for lunch, when the thieves broke in to their home between 9.40am and 1pm on Saturday.

Mr Redkin, 57, was paralysed from the waist down in a horrific car accident at Great Leighs in 1980 and Myrtle, 85 is profoundly deaf.

He said: “It’s horrible, we have had our Christmas [taken] now."

I'm not having this.
Nor will the people of Braintree.
Braintree and Witham Times, where can we contribute to restore Christmas and faith in humanity to this family?

What's the holdup B&W?

You should have had this fund up and running hours ago.

Just for once please show your readers that you can and do read and act upon their comments with some alacrity.

This is an absolutely dreadful heart rending situation that must have affected so many Braintree townsfolk. They should be able to look to you for leadership at a time like this

Whatever you do, don’t miss this opportunity to show that you really can ‘cut the mustard’.

My cheque is already in the post.
