Youngsters in Rayne are set to get a new BMX track thanks to an enterprising teenager.

The track is due to be built on land off Oak Meadow, Rayne in March next year and is the brainchild of 13-year-old Jamie-Lee Bamford who designed and even fund-raised towards the project herself.

The year eight Notley High School pupil attended a Rayne Parish Council meeting earlier this year to ask councillors for a new track after they closed an informal BMX site off the Flitch Way because it had become unsafe.

Although the council did not have the money itself members were so impressed with Jamie-Lee that they set about securing grants for the project and last month were offered £6,500 by the Essex County Council Big Society Fund.
