Witham: 'Confusing charges left me out of pocket'

Kathy Truss Kathy Truss

A resident claims confusing parking charges have left her facing fines.

Kathy Truss had used the Newlands Drive car park in Witham for eight years to park her car overnight.

But Ms Truss, who has no parking outside her flat in nearby Guithavon Street, said she was ticketed three times in as many months.

The current fees have been in place since April 2010 and apply 7am to 6pm.

Free parking used to be available on Sundays before then.

Ms Truss said the 10p after 3pm charge had complicated the fees and said the signs were confusing because it was not clear how much people should pay for parking overnight.
