Braintree: Police investigating after Coggeshall Road crash
Police are investigating after two cars collided in Braintree last night.
A silver Nissan Micra and black Ford Puma were in collision in Coggeshall Road shortly before 5pm.
An Essex Police spokesman said one driver received neck and pelvic injuries, while the other had head injuries.
He described none of the injuries as life threatening.
A section of Coggeshall Road remained closed for about an hour while the two vehicles were recovered.
Officers are now investigating the cause of the collision.

Must confess I had never heard of Mountbatten Road. It's all new to me. Had to check it out on a map!
Last time I was in that area was getting on for 60 years ago. Then it was all pasture land leading down to Hobbs Mill in Bocking.
Used to have great days roaming the whole area.
The attraction of exploring the dangerously derelict mill; river; mill pool; and nearby sandpits was just too much to resist! Glorious adventurous days – utterly unthinkable in this litigious PC age of ‘Elf & Safety Big Brotherhood.

Coggeshall Road stretches from the White Hart Hotel way out to the east of the town.
If the report just mentioned which part of Coggeshall Road was affected it would have conveyed so much more meaning.

The joy of sticking bangers - into them!
There was an art in choosing ones of the right consistency. Not too wet and not too crusty, for maximum effect.
Usually ended up having to wash off the 'evidence' in the river before going home.

When drafting the above comment I added such a note stating that the bangers being referred to were of the firework variety - not sausages!
Thought it best that I clarify that aspect. Wouldn’t want to create the impression that we were some sort of weird and horrible kids.
