Pupils could be given iPod Touches to help with their studies.

All 70 teachers and learning support assistants at Maltings Academy in Witham have been given an iPad 2, at a cost of just under £20,000.

And the Spinks Lane school hopes to give every pupil an iPod Touch in future, which retails on manufacturer Apple’s website from £169.

It would cost under £20,000 to kit out each year group with one of the devices.

Sounds like such a good idea not!!maybe the money could be spent on a decent teacher instead. While on the school`s debate, any one seen the Ofsted report for Alec Hunter in Braintree.Very slow reporting from the BWT,you were on to Tabor so quickly, why not Alec Hunter?Just to say that they were pulled apart by Ofsted and classed as inadequate!

I agree, why do all these secondary schools feel the need to always spend money on IT gadgets rather than other areas of education. No wonder kids are so obese these days. After the apparent legacy of the Olympics surely the money could be better spent on sports facilities, or other educational areas.NRA spent a fortune on IT but yet no swimming facilites at the school which would have also benefited the local primary schools who could do lessons there instead of having to hire a coach to go to Bramston if at all and the public would have had a second pool in the town which would have benefited the north side of the town.Should also spend on support staff to ensure kids come out being able to read , write and spell!
