Homeowners who claim they are on the frontline of Witham’s drunken yob culture are calling for CCTV cameras to be installed before the trouble worsens.
The Collingwood Road residents, who wish to remain anonymous for fear of reprisals, have witnessed violent fights and drunken antics just yards from their home.
After problems quietened down for a few years the residents claim trouble outside there homes has escalated over the last six weeks, with a fight on Remembrance Sunday spilling over from Newland Street into Collingwood Road.
They said: “It has been getting rowdier and rowdier.
“The police are always in Newland Street.
“They forget about Collingwood Road and the trouble is coming back.
“We are on the front line.
“It is Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, its terrible.
“You don’t want to go out, you don’t want to get involved.
“We don’t want it like it was before.
“CCTV would wonderful, it really would be wonderful.”
