Braintree: Pedestrian knocked unconscious by passing car
A woman was knocked unconscious after she was hit by the wing mirror of a passing car.
The 18-year-old was walking on the pavement on Skitts Hill, Braintree, at about 8.15pm on Sunday.
Passers-by gave first aid until an ambulance arrived to take the victim to hospital where she was treated for cuts, bruises and a whiplash injury.
PC Alex Southgate said: "The woman was walking along the pavement when the passing car’s wing mirror caught her bag strap and spun her round.
"She fell to the ground and hit her head so hard that she was knocked unconscious.
"The driver must have seen what happened but failed to stop and continued travelling up Skitts Hill towards Notley Road.
"Although the injuries turned out to be minor, this would easily have been much more serious, or could have had fatal consequences, if the woman had been dragged along by the car."
Any witnesses or anyone with information about the car or driver should contact Mr Southgate at Stanway road policing unit on 101 or email alex.southgate@essex.pnn.police.uk

To the people that were swearing at me and being nasty as I tried to divert the traffic around the estate, you need to get some perspective in your life. Going around the estate cost you 5 mins at most on your journey, this young girl was laying there completly helpless, relying on the help of good people, strangers that were willing to help another person in there hour of need. Hope you can live with yourselves.
To the young lady that was hurt (not sure if I can say your name), all the best, rest up up and get well very soon.
