A gold medal winning gardener is to recreate the horror of a Felsted School fire with plants and ruins.

Paul King, whose F1 exhibition won a gold medal at last year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show, is to create a garden about the fire at the Follyfield building in July this year.
The King and Co Nursery owner will include burnt parts of the building in the garden, which will be placed in the courtyard of the new Follyfield courtyard following next year’s Chelsea show.
Mr King, 47, of Dunmow Road, Rayne, said: “The project is still in the embryonic stage but I think really we are aiming to create a representation of the fire and the devastation it did, and more than that we are going to try and reflect the shock and the horror that the whole Follyfields community felt and the reverberations that came back from around the world.”
Mr King said the garden will tell the story of the fire and the hopes for the future.
The 90-year-old building was so badly damaged it had to be demolished and it is hoped a replacement will open in 2014.
