Estate agents swapped their suits for football shirts to raise money to give ill children magic experiences.

Colchester-based Spicerhaart, known for High Street branches haart and Spicer McColl, organised the match at Witham Town FC, in Spa Road, on Wednesday evening.

The estate agents played their marketing agents Think Media, with all proceeds from the event going to the Magic Moments charity.

The Times lent its support to the occasions, sponsoring the Think Media team’s shirts.

In total, the match raised £1,500 for Magic Coments, which supports children with serious and terminal illnesses under the care of hospices.

So far, £700,000 has been raised for the cause since the charity was founded in the late 1990s.

The floodlit match, which attracted a crowd of more than 100 spectators, was fiercely contested by both teams.

Spicerhaart were the eventual winners, triumphing in a penalty shootout after the match finished 2-2.

Magic Moments chairman Steve Lamb said: “It was an absolutely fantastic evening, inspite of the cold, with players and fans really getting into the spirit of things for Magic Moments. There was even some decent football played!”

Kris Babb, Think Media client services director, said: “It was a real pleasure to play our part in raising such a lot of money for Magic Moments.

“Everyone at Think Media is hugely supportive of the work the charity does and to be invited to play at Witham Town FC was a real honour.”
