Braintree: Jobs at risk with Comet on verge of administration Braintree: Jobs at risk with Comet on verge of administration

An electrical retailer is expected to enter administration, putting dozens of jobs in Braintree at risk.

The chief executive of Comet, which has a branch on the Braintree Retail Park, is understood to have filed an intention to appoint an administrator.

Comet also has stores in Colchester, Basildon and Southend.

If the company went under it would mean around 100 jobs being lost in total across the four stores.

The stores are expected to stay open while administrators look for a potential buyer for the stricken company.

The Braintree store opened in its current location 15 years ago this month, creating 20 jobs at the time.
