Braintree is to have its first Christmas market.
Events organiser Market Square Group, which runs similar successful events in Bury St Edmunds and Kingston-upon-Thames, is bringing stalls and entertainment to the High Street next Friday and Saturday.
Braintree Council is paying £5,000 to stage the market from money allocated for the failed Business Improvement District scheme and from the Portas Pilot pot of cash.
Opening times will be 10am to 7pm on both days.
High Street will be closed between Bank Street and St Michael’s fountain between 6pm next Thursday and 10am next Sunday.
