Witham: Driver did not realise he had hit suicidal man who jumped from bridge Witham: Driver did not realise he had hit suicidal man who jumped from bridge

A driver ran over a suicidal man who jumped from a bridge and drove home without stopping, an inquest heard.

Mark Lucas suffered serious injuries after jumping from a bridge on the Ardleigh Interchange onto the A120 below.

He was then hit by Witham man Peter Webb’s Range Rover and dragged along the carriageway, on November 5, 2011.

Mr Webb said he drove over Mr Lucas, 35, but did not realise he had hit him.

The 40-year-old then drove home without stopping, calling 999 from his mobile while driving.

I'm afraid this is somewhat typical of ignorant drivers these days, so very arrogant and stupid that they would do something like this. And the driver has admitted using his mobile to dial 999, so A), nick him for that, and B), if he thought it necessary to call the police, why oh why did he not stop? Because he's arrogant, ignorant and downright stupid.
Absolute disgrace.

If someone decides to jump from a bridge and then why expect people to stop and witness it! I would not want to see a dead person nor should it be put upon people. Ignorant and selfish is the person who jumped off!

Two big wrongs here. If you're gonna kill yourself, do your best to limit the effect on others and if you think you've run over something, do the decent thing and pull over and check it out.
