Braintree Council is the licensing authority
A shocked parent had to call paramedics to treat her daughter’s 14-year-old friend after she got drunk on booze allegedly bought from a curry house.
The woman, who cannot be named, said she was told by her daughter the pair had bought the bottle of white wine from the Little India Takeaway in Laburnum Way, Witham.
The incident was logged by police and presented in evidence to Braintree Council at a Licence Review Hearing last Wednesday.
Essex Police had asked the council to review Little India’s alcohol licence amid claims staff were selling booze to children.
Following the hearing councillors voted to suspend the takeaway’s licence for seven days and impose conditions which included, implementing a Challenge 25 policy, recording all refused sales of alcohol and additional staff training.
