Police are hunting yobs who threw a cat at a car on the A131.

A 53-year-old of Coggeshall, was driving past the Great Leighs at about 8.30pm on Thursday, October 18, when she saw a group of teenagers by the side of the road.

They threw concrete at her Ford S Maz and then a cat. 

Police are looking to trace the owner of a lost or stolen cat as well as witnesses to an incident 

Investigating Officer, Pc Sophie Chatwin, said: "This woman was driving home from work when she approached the Great Leighs Racecourse roundabout. She saw several youngsters at the side of the road and feared that they were going to push a boy into the road so slowed down. There were approximately half a dozen that came out of nowhere.”

The incident was only reported to police the following day (Friday). The cost of the damage to the car is estimated at approximately £1,000.

The only description that has been given to police is that one of the youngsters was wearing a bright red Nike hoodie.

Anyone with information in connection with this act of criminal damage is urged to contact investigating officers at Braintree police station on 101.
