Essex: Voters surveyed on council ward changes

Voters are being asked for their views on plans to cut the number of councillors representing them.

The Local Government Boundary Commission is looking to draw up new electoral wards for Uttlesford Council, which will affect people living in Felsted, Stebbing and Dunmow.

It would mean there would be 39 councillors - five less than there are currently.

The Commission said each councillor will represent roughly the same number of voters and aims to ensure the new wards reflect the interests and identities of communities across the district.

Residents have until January 14, 2013 to submit their views.

More information and maps of the existing wards can be found at consultation.lgbce.org.uk and www.lgbce.org.uk.

Residents will have a further chance to have their say after the Commission publishes its draft recommendations in April.
