Witham town centre will be given a £10,000 boost and a chance to win a further £1 million.
Witham Town Centre Development Community Interest Company was announced as one of more than 300 towns that will be given the Government cash grant.
The fund was available to towns that were supported by their MP and had previously applied for the Portas Pilot.
Paul Ryland, Rob Williams, Neil Coughlan and Tunde Biyi formed the CIC and put the bid together.
They will now be able to apply for £1 million pot which will be given to the town centre which has made the biggest improvement.
