Witham: New supermarket on cards for Newlands?

Owners of an ageing shopping centre have not ruled out bringing a new supermarket to Witham.
NewRiver Retail, owners of the Newlands Shopping Centre, are still looking at options to develop the precinct.
But Morrisons claimed its latest bid for a multi-million pound expansion was partly based on the understanding there would not be a food store at Newlands.
Charles Spooner, senior asset manager at NewRiver Retail, said: “We continue to explore development options for the back of the precinct and have not ruled out a food anchor as one of the retail options for the centre."
