Children braved the rain to do a charity walk for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Nearly 250 pupils at Powers Hall Junior School, Witham, joined staff and parents to walk either six times around the playground or four times around the field.

They were inspired by school educational advisor Joanna Bamford, who walked 50 miles with daughters Grace and Lucy in the Macmillan Thames Path Challenge.

MP Priti Patel joined the children in the morning and they raised about £230.

Kitchen staff at the Spa Road school also made and sold cakes.
