Concerned residents will start a petition against sewage disposal plans.

AW Banning Ltd applied to the Environment Agency for consent to discharge up to 9.6 cubic metres per day of secondary treated sewage effluent in to the nature reserve, between four-12 Greenways, Gosfield.

Barry Thomas, secretary of Greenfields and Greenways Residents Association, said: "What if the system breaks down?

"Will raw sewage be discharged?"

Arthur Banning, developer, said:"It will go through a biotech sewage treatment works so it will come out 80 per cent pure.

"It will then feed through reed beds, which will purify it completely."

The deadline for reponses is May 30.
