Police chief calms drugs fears
Exclusive By Natasha Hand

A SENIOR policeman has assured residents the force is taking drugs seriously, following fears about drug dealing in Bocking and Braintree.

It follows the fatal stabbing of Alan Reilly in Coldnailhurst Avenue, Bocking, a fortnight ago, which police believe may have been drugs-related.

Alan Gooden, district commander for Braintree, said: "Unfortunately in today's society drugs are available throughout all of our communities and that is a fact.

"I want to reiterate and assure people that while I say and acknowledge that drugs are an unfortunate part of our society today, we do not tolerate it in the Braintree district and we are actively engaged in arresting and deterring both users and suppliers of drugs."

See today's Braintree and Witham Times for full story.
