Cash to expand travellers' site
A COUNCIL has been given government cash to extend a travellers' site.
Essex County Council has been awarded £116,098 to expand Sandiacres near Cressing.
It is an authorised site run by the council and was established more than 20 years ago.
A spokeswoman said: "The site currently has 12 pitches and the council is currently looking to expand it by a further two. "There is a nationally recognised shortage of gypsy/traveller pitches, with the single issue review of the regional spatial strategy - currently out to public consultation - identifying a need for an additional 371 plots in Essex by 2011.
"Sandiacres can only be expanded if granted planning permission and local people will have the chance to air their views during the planning process."

stuff them, they choose to live in a caravan and dump rubbish everywhere. Use the money to pay towards something that will benefit tax payers.

As their name states, they are travelers. So why don't they travel a bit more rather than settling down in sites like this one. I drive past the site alot and am always seeing rubbish that has been dumped in the field beside the site. While I'm driving I'm also having to avoid children from the site who are walking in the road. It's only time before someone is going to get seriously injured.

How on earth can adding two pitches to a site cost that much?
I'm amazed
