TECHNOLOGY company e2v is calling on people in Essex to support its apprentices in a bid to win a national contest.

Nine of e2v’s young trainees have entered the Brathay Apprentice Challenge, the official search to find the “apprentice team of the year”.

The contest aims to encourage teams of apprentices from across the country to prove their team building, leadership, logistical and communications skills.

Contestants are put through a number of challenges within their community. e2v apprentices are taking part in the regional heats with the hope of making the national finals in April.

George Williams, 19, e2v apprentice and team leader, said: “The e2v apprenticeship scheme has helped us all enhance our skills to such an extent we really feel we have a chance to make the finals of this award and even win – all we need is for the local community to get in touch and give us that opportunity.”

As part of the regional heats ,they have to raise awareness of their participation in the challenge and the benefits of their apprenticeship. They must also carry out a community project, where they use their skills to help and support the local community.

The e2v team has formed the e2v Community Help Programme. It aims to offer voluntary help and support to clubs and other organisations in Essex.
Team members are looking for jobs that include decorating, cleaning and tidying, and DIY.
