Town to mark a season of progress
The players, staff and supporters of Halstead Town Football Club will celebrate an encouraging season tomorrow night when the club holds its annual awards night at Rosemary Lane.
Jody Brown led the club's first team to a sixth-place finish in Ridgeons League division one, in his first full season in charge at the club.
They finished just a point off the promotion places, despite a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Stowmarket Town in their final league game of the season.
Halstead also reached the First Division Knockout Cup Final, where they lost to Ely City and the last four of the East Anglian Cup.
Brown said: "I look at the season as a success.
"I have big hopes for next year and different aims.
"We want to make more strides in the national competitions and prepare properly in the summer so that we're in a stronger position by the start of the season.
"We are determined to make a good start next season and we'll meet up regularly over the next couple of months, which will hopefully help to push further along the starting line."
Brown added that he expects the vast majority of his squad to still be with the club next season and is keen to hold on to the likes of leading goalscorer, Chris Bryan.
