The September meeting was a feast for the eyes, when speaker Frances Fitzgerald displayed examples of her raised work embroidery, including a bishop’s mitre.
The meeting was told the history of raised embroidery, which was combined with a knowledge of England through the ages.
A quiz will be held in Faulkbourne in November. The Christmas dinner has been fixed for December 11.
The competition for a red item beginning with R was won by Mary Scrutton with a ring with a ruby stone. Sue Heslop was second and Jones third.
Refreshments were served by Sylvia Playle and Joan Thrussell.
The next meeting will be on October 2, at 7.15pm in White Notley village hall, when Ann Wood will be speaking on the history of bookbinding.
In November, Dudley Chignal will be giving a travel talk.
