For the final evening gathering of the year, members enjoyed an unusual meeting with a playlet and a faith supper.
Jean Ashby directed an amusing sketch called Party Time, which concerned a committee getting together to organise a party for the granddads.
Members taking part were Anne Dickson, Anne Windus, Virginia Strange, Pat Curtis, Viv Weale and Jean Ashby.
After the play, everyone tucked into a feast of sandwiches and homemade vegetable soup, followed by cakes and mince pies.
Pat Curtis thanked members for contributing and reminded everyone that the next meeting was on October 7, at 2.30pm, when the speaker will be Ivy Southgate.
On Monday, October 6, at 10.30am, there will be a diocesan council meeting in the cathedral.
There was great interest in a collection of photographs recalling the summer outing to Leeds Castle in June.
Volunteers were asked to sign up for refreshments and as welcomers when the church opens for the harvest festival.
The village art group will be holding an exhibition of its work and light refreshments will be available with ploughman’s lunches on Saturday.
Members of the flower guild will be decorating the church as usual with flowers, fruit and vegetables.
This year, the festival will be supporting the work of the Mothers’ Union, in particular the Literacy Project.
