Ann Watkinson’s talk on the history of Manor Street School attracted a large audience, many of them former pupils of the school.
She traced the story of the school from the founding by George Courtauld to its closure. She had a wealth of information researched from museum archives and school log books.
Photographs showed pupils and staff from Victorian times to the 1990s. These illustrated both the changes and the similarities in education, bringing back many memories.
Mrs Watkinson is planning a book on this subject, which will be published by the museum.
